Insecticide abamectin is a natural product isolated from soil bacteria. Because it has strong contact and stomach poisoning and weak fumigant effect on insects and mites, it can be used for pest control and treatment of livestock caused by poultry nematode, mites and parasitic insects. It doesn't have systemic poisoning effect but it has strong leaf penetration, therefore it can kill the pests under the skin. Different from general insecticide, its mechanism is to interfere with the neurophysiologic activities and stimulate the release of r-aminobutyric acid which can inhibit nerve conduction of arthropod. As a result, mites, insects and larvae will develop the symptoms after contact with this product and don't feed and act and die within 2 to 4 days.

There is no rapid dehydration for insects, so lethal effect is slow. However, this product has direct killing effect on predatory and parasitic natural enemies. There is little residue on the plant surfaces so it has very limited damage to beneficial insects. For original drug, it is highly toxic, but low toxic for preparation. In addition, it can be degraded rapidly in soil, making it pretty safe for human.
