Insecticide fipronil is one of phenylpyrazole insecticide and the chemical name is (RS)-5-amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-(trifluoromethylsulfinyl)-1H-pyrazole-3-carbonitrile. It has an excellent stability and it is stable at room temperature but not stable for light. The freezing point of this product is 4℃ and the melting point is 11℃. This product is pretty active to hemiptera, lepidoptera, thysanoptera and coleoptera and other pests which have drug-resistant to cyclopentyl diene, pyrethroid and carbamate insecticides. For toxicity, the main function of this product is stomach poisoning as well as contact and systemic poisoning. And its mechanism is to inhibit insect chloride metabolism controlled by γ-aminobutyric acid.

This product has overall medium toxicity but it is highly toxic to bees, especiallyparasitic wasps. Because they are natural enemies of rice stem borer and for rice leaf roller, so the usage of the product should be thoroughly considered. Besides that, as a broad spectrum insecticide, it also has strong destruction of other natural enemies of pests, so overuse of this product can damage the ecological protection of the farmland.
