As an amber liquid, herbicide butachlor is insoluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents. The boiling point for this product is 196℃ and density is 1.059-1.07 under 25℃. It is chemically stable at room temperature and neutral and weak alkaline conditions. However, under the condition of strong acid, it can be decomposed very quickly. As well as that, it can be degraded by soil. This product is a selective systemic herbicide of acetanilide class and it is mainly used for control of the annual grass weeds and some broadleaf weeds in direct seeding or transplanting paddy fields. Of course, it also has selective effect on wheat, barley, sugar beet, cotton, peanuts and cabbage crop and its active ingredient is 1.0-4.5kg per hectare. As an important kind of rice field herbicide, it can be applied to bud soil surface treatment or paddy post-emergence treatment.

After absorbed by shoots of weeds, herbicide butachlor can be transferred to the whole weed to inhibit and destruct protease, thus affecting synthesis of protein and inhibiting normal growth and development of plumule and radicle. On clay loam and high organic matter soils, it can be absorbed by colloids so its effect can last 1-2 months without leaching. For storage, this product is toxic and flammable, so it should be stored in cool and well ventilated warehouse and fire is strictly prohibited.
